BIO-  Brian Cobb is the Instructor and Dept. Head, with 26 years of shop experience beginning one week after high school graduation. I started as a shop helper/prepper/tow truck driver, progressing to ASE Master Collision Refinish Technician. I attended Craven Community College’s Step Ahead Program my senior year of high school and began working after graduation in 1994. I currently serve on the Carteret County Rural Transportation Advisory Board, am Green Zone Certified ( to advise and counsel Veteran students) , and am a 2024 Graduate of UNC Pembroke with a degree in Business Administration/Management.

Our program uses I-CAR PDP, and students now have to take the Pro-Level 1 Certification tests for Refinish and Non-Structural. In 2023 we had 6 recipients of the 3M Hire our Heroes Scholarship, as well as two Women’s Industry Network Scholarship winners, the only other school with multiple winners was UTI in a large metro area!

ADVISORY COMMITTEE- WE have 4 advisory board members, 2 of which  are out of contact and we are desperate for shops to be involved and become members. Many do not want to join as the College requires prospective members to send information ( such as a resume) and they are voted on by the Board of Trustees( this is a college rule, not mine). I welcome input, phone calls or emails from anyone interested in our program! I am attempting to improve our program and get more students involved that are interested in working in the field, we are largely military from Camp Lejeune/New River

Every March we host a Trades Day competition for local High School students to compete, I have an open house and host the high school Collision Students from Onslow County Skills Center.
